Flowers are beautiful hieroglyphics of nature, with which she
indicates how much she loves us.

-Goethe

I guess, it is lil bit wrong translated.

I like the first part very much "Flowers are beautiful hieroglyphics of nature"

Wild Geese by Mary Oliver

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting-
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

1) I REFUSE to believe that is who is in that coffin. I refuse to believe it.

2) There's something else I refuse to believe, and I was crying like a baby on the couch along with someone else, whose screams were absolutely heartbreaking...

3) Never liked the doctor, from the start...

1) He's my favorite of all of them, since the start!

2) Oh I didn't bite any pillows. I just sobbed along with her. God, those screams... it *can't* be true! Same as the above *can't* be true! There has to be a catch somewhere...

3) I can't stand her either! Wouldn't mind in the least if she ends up like the above two, but we already know that doesn't happen... X(

4)  :perfekt:

"When the forests have been destroyed their darkness remains
The ash the great walker follows the possessors
Forever
Nothing they will come to is real
Not for long
Over the watercourses
Like ducks in the time of ducks
The ghosts of the villages trail in the sky
Making a new twilight

Rain falls into the open eyes of the dead
Again again with its pointless sound
When the moon finds them they are the color of everything

The nights disappear like bruises but nothing is healed
The dead go away like bruises
The blood vanishes into the poisoned farmlands
Pain the horizon
Remains
Overhead the seasons rock
They are paper bells
Calling to nothing living

The possessors move everywhere under Death their star
Like columns of smoke they advance into the shadows
Like thin flames with no light
They with no past
And fire their only future "

****************

A friend and I many years ago were just batting around ideas- and I just thought of him today when I saw this snippet from a book. I really like it. I was explaining to him that I don't generally live with regrets because I imagine that somewhere out there in another reality, there are other "me's", carrying on with the choices I didn't select. Idealistically speaking of course. I hope it doesn't come off as new agey as it looks now that I'm typing it out concretely without the context of our conversation to provide a foundation. But anyway, here is the quote that made me think of that conversation with my old friend, now departed. It doesn't make me sad that this makes me remember him- it brings back good memories. He told me he was surprised at my pov, that most other people would be resentful of the things they didn't accomplish. I said why? There are always, always choices. Why not imagine that somehow somewhere, you chose another path for yourself? The locus of control is in *you*, and that's why I have no regrets. :

Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit by Jeanette Winterson

"I have a theory that every time you make an important choice, the part of you left behind continues the other life you could have had. Some people's emanations are very strong, some people create themselves afresh outside of their own body. This is not fancy. If a potter has an idea, she makes it into a pot, and it exists beyond her, beyond its own separate life. She uses a physical substance to display her thoughts. If I use a metaphysical substance to display my thoughts, I might be anywhere at one time, influencing a number of different things, just as the potter and her pottery can exert influence in different places. There's a chance that I'm not here at all, that all the parts of me, running along all the choices I did and didn't make, for a moment brush against each other."

The thing was to know what he belonged to, how many powers of darkness claimed him for their own. That was the reflection that made you creepy all over. It was impossible--it was not good for one either--trying to imagine. He had taken a high seat amongst the devils of the land--I mean literally. You can't understand. How could you?--with solid pavement under your feet, surrounded by kind neighbors ready to cheer you or to fall on you, stepping delicately between the butcher and the policeman, in the holy terror of scandal and gallows and lunatic asylums--how can you imagine what particular region of the first ages a man's untrammeled feet may take him into by the way of solitude--utter silence without a policeman--by the way of silence--utter silence, where no warning voice of a kind neighbor can be heard whispering public opinion? These little things make all the great difference. When they are gone you must fall back upon your own innate strength, upon your own capacity for faithfulness.

The shadow and her Wanda.

When night came, Wanda rushed into bed. The night scared her, you see - everything about it: the darkness, the noises, especially the porcupines.

"I pity you, unhappy stars," Wanda said, "You weep in the dark without tears." Wanda shut her eyes and left the night behind.

Wanda began to dream. Everything was shiny and made music. "Wu-Tang," she said smiling, "Hey, that´s old Madonna!" Wanda yelled. Everything was bright and familiar.

Morning came. Wanda rushed out of bed to greet the day. The light was so warm! She hugged the monkey.

A voice said, "I want to give you a chance to explain yourself!" The voice startled Wanda. But she didn´t see anyone around. She looked everywhere for the voice.

"I´m here," said her shadow on the ground.

"AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH,"
Wanda yelled, and ran the other way. But the shadow followed right behind her.

"Who are you running from?" the shadow asked. Wanda turned around and said, "You have no right to scare me like this. You are my shadow!"

The shadow moved towards Wanda, because it was close noon.
"I´m with you every day" said the shadow: "I´m just like you".

The shadow changed into the shape of Wanda´s favorite things, like tulips and expensive cars.

The shadow asked, "why are you scared of me?".

"You leave a trace and leave a wound," Wanda said. "You are the night of my world."

The shadow held Wanda because it was noon. The shadow said, "Silly, the world shines anew in the dark".

"I will show you".

The shadow passed by a man. In the night of her shadow, Wanda saw the man change.

The shadow passed by a window: In the darkness, the window changed.

Wanda was changing too.

WAH WHOOP! WHOOP WHAAA!"
Oh no! can you hear the police siren? That means the sun is setting. "The night is coming," Wanda said to her shadow: And for the first time, she did not rush into bed.

But the shadow did not reply. When the sun sets, shadows become very weak, you see. "Where are you going?" Wanda asked.

The shadow whispered, "Farewell my Wanda, I have to go now".

"Don´t leave me!" Wanda cried.

There was no reply.

But Wanda could hear a distant voice, soft like and echo, saying "Remember, remember, the radiant ember..." So soft, so dim.

Night comes.

The night was dark. Wanda could not see her bed. She could not see much.

But she could see enough. The night of her world shined before her.

Wanda began to look for porcupines.
