Synergy on DVD?

I thought you would all help me answer this one.

Did Synergy come out on NTSC DVD or did I just find a bootleg on eBay? What threw me off was the "interactive menus" which I suppose some really good bootleggers can produce. I could have sworn this only came on VHS and searching the forum only confirmed that for me.

Anyone able to answer this one for me? ?( Thanks in advance!

Edit: the auction has ended but the link is still alive if anyone wants to investigate.

Hmmm... pretty sure that's a bootleg. To my knowledge Synergy hasn't been released on DVD at all.

...interactive menus? Weird.

Yeah, there were some fishy details in the listing and I decided to search for details before purchasing. :nein:

I haven't owned a VHS player so I was like, "aww, great, finally I can see Synergy and not just hear it!" but then I thought to myself ... I would have seen a DVD box set somewhere out there before. :(

Bootleggers sure can do all that menu stuff but it tends not to be as good-looking or as "interactive" as professional menus. Oh well ... maybe some day it'll be a digital download item.

RE: Synergy on DVD?

I had the same query a few months ago because I wanted to convert it over to my iPOD. Luckily a lovely lady helped me out on that but for some reason you just can't get it on DVD (offically lol).

It looks like In Transit will be a different story though :-]

Can't wait.

Ah, yes, a good reason to want it then. :-]

I've personally never had the chance to see it, as I have the audio only version, and have been craving a little older Covenant stuff lately. I'm not keen on getting band DVD's so I just stick to the bands I really, really enjoy live.

Besides, I like a good Blood Mary and have been wanting to see Joakim's tutorial for some time. It makes me feel like a total nerd to admit that. I wonder what quirky tidbit they'll add to In Transit ...

I like non-sequiturs like that as well... frankly, the best part of The Nomi Song DVD was Klaus demonstrating how to make a lime tart...

Ever since I saw Joakim's tutorial, I never went back to the old way I made Bloody Mary's. :D

I bought a bootleg on ebay a few years ago. I figured it was my only way of seeing it (no VCR). and it was only $20 ish. The guy also sent me a bootleg of DM in Hamburg with all kinds of other DM stuff on the DVD also... and on the Covenant one, it included the CTSTP and Bullet videos and some other footage from Crazy Clip Show (I guess the producers of the Synergy video??) which didn't make it on the real VHS.. Go Film was one of the "bonus" songs.. so I was happy about that.

The DVD was transfered from an unwatched VHS.. the sound quality playing on my computer was horrid! for the VHS transferred parts, but playing on my TV/DVD player it was just fine. (normally DVDs play on my computer just fine, so this was a little weird).

This guy was in NJ also, but I don't know if it's the same one.. his CDs weren't printed on the top and he made a decent looking paper insert. He had 3 "volumes" of Swedish synth bootleg DVDs.. Vol. 1 was Elegant Machinery and Vol. 3 was S.P.O.C.K, I think... He told me recently he had some interesting live stuff from Russia (no Covenant tho). Not sure if they were DVDs tho.

And One - Live in NYC with Promos
A:grumh Live in Moscow
Beborn Beton - Live in Moscow
Borghesia - Live 1990
Elegant Machinery - Live in Moscow
Colony 5 Live in Moscow
Funker Vogt - Live in Moscow
Obscyre - Live 1997 -98
Obscyre - Live 1999- 2000
S.P.O.C.K. - Live in Moscow
Unheilig - Live in Moscow

It seems kinda tacky posting bootleg info here on the Covenant forum.. but I guess if you want his contact info, you can email me.

Oh, that's an impressive list! 8o

Well, I've never bought bootlegs of anything before. I've never even used Napster or any of that. I guess that's because I hate hearing about these record labels and small music shops shutting down and claiming that free sharing was to blame.

Thank you for the information, though. The person who won the auction was also from Chicago, ironically enough, so worst case scenario I'll contact them and ask them if the quality was worthwhile. For all I know, I may know them through the scene already. :)

Edit: This topic gave me some flashbacks to all the times I got harrassed in NYC to buy bootleg porn laid out on blankets on the streets, especially inside and around Port Authority. I just saw you're from NYC and thought I'd share that mental connect with you.

Just a general addition: I'm not interested in anyone making me a copy. Looks like anyone who doesn't own a tape player is in the same position as I am but we've got In Transit to look forward to this year! :)

I simply started this thread to make sure I didn't bid on a potential bootleg. I'm content with waiting for a future legal download or perhaps finding someone in my area that already owns it and will invite me over for a viewing some day.

Thanks for all the nice and funny comments along the way!

I don´t know if your VHS-Player is able to play PAL-Version.

I use an "AIWA MG350S Z" who is able to convert all VHS-formats.

But it is not easy to get this model coz it is ver rare.

SYNERGY BOX 11,99 Euro:
http://cgi.ebay.it/COVENANT-VHS-CD-SYNER…1QQcmdZViewItem

Every Covenant-fan should own this box (if possible).

Eskil has blond hair on this tape.
Clas,Joakim and Eskil are talking lil bit about Sweden....Mountains....later about Vikings (bytheway,I didnt understand this passage) ...... Joakim was flying in Helicopter as child .... and many other stories/interviews.

The concert-videos are very good edited but I was missing lil bit close up views.

I have this box set but no VCR, and an ex-girlfriend has the audio portion. Oh well, I still recall Joakim's perfected recipe for a Bloody Mary!

The cameraman didn´t look happy when he was drinking the cocktail

VHS-Player is very cheap in the period of DVD and HDV ;)

Converting a VHS-tape to DVD is not the same....I still like nostalgic technology

Maybe I like to buy this onetime.... :sch:

My husband did the same thing for me as a surprise. He took a bunch of VHS tapes that we owned and converted them all (including Synergy) at work. That's what I call a good gift!
