Happy Birthday from me too! :perfekt:
I associate so many good memories with Covenant!
Like the gig at the Zillo open air festival 1997. Sequencer was out for a while, and Covenant played the main stage at a rather early time. I liked the band but wasn`t a "die hard" fan yet. This was truly one of the best gigs I have ever witnessed! Despite the early time Covenant attracted a huge crowd, and I was really surprised how many people turned up at the stage (instead of staying at the tent or enjoying the sun somewhere
) and I think the band was surprised too. The atmosphere was overwhelming and pure euphoria, everyone felt that they were taking part in a very special moment, and Clas, Eskil and Joakim were obviously stunned by the massive response and had big smiles on their faces. The afternoon sun was wandering around and started to shine through the backdrop of the stage, dispersing rays of light through the gaps and voids of the backdrop from behind. Just looked awesome, and I think I have never seen such a light setting before. Simply everything in that moment felt special.
After that I was hooked on Covenant and tried to see as many shows as possible.
And, of course, many more great moments were to come.
The Europa tour, including my first interview with the band and having too much whiskey with a guy named Ronan Harris, who was the singer of the back then rather unknown support band.
Following around the band on the United States Of Mind tour. Having a few drinks with a certain Mr. Montelius at the otherwise rather boring Eurorock indoor fest. Going to cities like Berlin or Barcelona to see this band live. A certain "Bluten Gel"
incidence where I proved yet another time my tendency to drop a brick. And, for me a very happy moment, seeing "Happy Birthday Niggels" on all screens at the Hamburg show of the Northern Light tour before the guys came back to perform the encore!
And many more moments, and I`m sure there`s more to come!
Happy Birthday Covenant!
