@ShadowByte: It`s a person who is close to the person who was responsible for all this mess and all the fabrications. I`m not giving away real names here, as this is a no-no in the internet anyway.

@Vorbedacht: The posting is imo not insulting, it`s just a person who wants to clarify things for all of us. I`m very sure the person only registered here to let people know the truth, finally. A rather honourable intention, from my point of view. I think people here deserve the truth about this whole matter!

Although I fully get why such a sudden posting may be confusing and irritating for anyone - especially as it comes out of the blue for most users here. It took me one and a half year to find out the truth. Mika`s fate was shocking and distressing (for many here) but it is equally shocking that it all was just a hoax, and that neither Mika existed nor that the described incidents ever happened in reality.

Wow. I'm stunned.

If this is true I'm very relieved that this horror didn't actually happen, but at the same time I feel deep sorrow for the poor girl who lived in this delusion. I really hope she gets better.

The story of Mika has haunted me ever since I first heard of it. Detroit is a dangerous place, I know that from personal experience. And I felt guilty. It felt like she wouldn't even have been there if it wasn't for us. Irrational, yes, but part of me felt like it was our fault. The horror of it was so monumental.

I hope Aurora is telling the truth. It's not good, but still a whole lot better than the alternative.

This is all so strange. Who was sending me email for over a year? Who did I tell my darkest secrets to? This is just as upsetting in a way as if the Mika story was real. Why is the person who was Seren now "x" on Myspace?

How do you figure out finally ?(

A friend who is extremly sarcastic told me that this story is for sure only a kind of public relations.... the joke was not funny.

On one hand I am happy that this never happened and on other hand I am sad about the sick girl.

Is it possible to help to the girl who produced this mess?

Public relations for *what*?

No, it was simply a person who has had severe psychological problems for a very long time. (and who is getting professional help now)

And Jocke is right, it's better that the horrendrous things that happened to "Mika" are actually not real! I prefer a world without such barbarous crimes.

On the other hand it is surely mortifying for everyone who suffered and were distressed because of what allegedly happened to "Mika" that it was all just a hoax.

However, the truth is revealed and it's all over now.

Oh my god.

I'm... I'm absolutely speechless.

Who the hell have I been talking to this whole time??

I am so glad this didn't happen, and I'm glad the girl is getting the help she so desperately needs, but at the same time I'm *angry* too, for what she inflicted on this forum.

A weird mix of pity, relief, and anger.

Some of us really have been attacked, and it really hurts me that someone would lie about these things. If they knew the horror that I have suffered through, maybe they would think twice.

That's really fucking sick. Absolutely nauseating thing to say. No offense, dh, but I wish you hadn't mentioned that. How do you think it makes Covenant feel to read these things, regardless of the fact they're probably used to wack rumors by now? This one was just a little bit different than your usual wack rumor.

It's bad enough that members of the forum extended themselves throughout the past- how long has it been? Year and a half, two years almost?- and were taken advantage of for their compassion. And it's really bad enough that Covenant themselves felt guilty. That really upset me, as that would be something they'd have to live with throughout their career. All of this upset me. Sorry, empathy kicking in.

So yeah, I'm still pretty angry about it. Though like I said, I still feel much pity and compassion at the same time for this girl who obviously had enough of a psychotic break to fabricate these things and hurt other people deeply as she did.

But to have some asshole say that it was a PR stunt to sell CDs??? It's fucking sick and I'm really glad the person who said that isn't in my presence because my usual easy-going, docile nature would be trumped by my urgent need to either kick the shit out of the guy or verbally put him in his place on general principle. And we don't want that. Stupid crap like that being said usually is just water off the back, you always hear all sorts of dumb rumors and such- this just hits a little close to home.

So yeah, it's over as Niggels said, but not over for those of us who got close to "Seren". We still have some processing to do. No intention of "processing" on this forum however.

Sure does explain a few things though.

-Holley

@ d_h:

I hope your sarcastic friend isn't referring to Covenant. And if he/she is, please make sure to keep him/her away from me. Feel free to quote me on that.

It feels totally wrong to have to say this here and now, I assume it's self-explanatory for anyone who knows a bit about us, but for the record:

We have never ever resorted to any of the cheap tricks of this business. If you had any idea of the multitude of "marketing strategies" we have been suggested and turned down over the years... I honestly think that very few bands can claim a clean conscience, but we definitely can.

The mere thought of using this sad tale for promotion makes me sick. Tell your friend to think twice the next time he/she wants to be sarcastic. OK?

/Joakim, officially angry and offended

@J: Please see my amended post right above you. Incidentally, I wrote it (the amended part in the first paragraph) before I read your response.

Three things, somewhat addressed to whoever was behind the mika/seren posts:

•Please don't put anyone through that type of anguish again if you are reading this. I am responsible for my own reaction to what supposedly happened. Though many of my current problems stem from a ruined university semester during which far too many people were dying, significant understatement. This wasn't a healthy addition, and this is also, an understatement.

•The quote on the image at the top of the thread still fits.

•Unless Aurora has anything to add, perhaps a thread lock would prevent further conflagration. Situations like this require a level of sensitivity that everyone on the forum may not necessarily be accustomed with. Discussing things privately may be a more constructive alternative in order to avoid the patterns of frustration situations like this typically entail.

Thank you in advance.

Try not to take it too personally, M. The girl is very mentally ill. She didn't do it to exploit anyone's history, weaknesses, or past. At this point I have a suspicion she wasn't capable of the rational thought of thinking twice.

Oh no, he deserves to be in the pillory for such odious thoughts. His comment is offensive to.. hmm.... just about everyone, actually.

So next time he displays such assholery, just kick him in the nuts and then you won't have to say anything at all- let your shoe do the talking! :)

But for future, no, I really *do not* think that we needed to know his stupid conspiracy theory on marketing techniques. Or that thereof. Some things are best kept to oneself.

I second this idea. Can we *please* just lock it up and throw away the proverbial key? New people to the forum will inevitably ask about it eventually if it's out there and able to be read...

What. The. FUCK.

This is sick. Absolutely horrible. Yes, it's a relief to know that no one did die, but still, it's SO not cool to toy with emotions like that. You don't know who the hell you could be hurting.

I do hope she's getting the help she needs. For her sake.

-the thank you in advance part was addressed to seren/mika, not about the thread lock, though, that still may help
