More room for gossip!

For the sake of the forum’s discipline let's talk about
- differences between the US and Europe,
- “groupies”,
- clubs which have been closed lately
- and anything else that might occur to us
right here.

:)

Who wants to start?
All things considered, insanity is the only reasonable alternative.

RE: More room for gossip!

I won't give up so easily. And if I will have to chat all alone! :P

What about continuing our fascinating discussions about Nobel Prize winners and former ABBA members here?

We're burgeoning intellectuals here on the Covenant forum... that might actually be a great pickup line for many of us...

"Hey baby, want to come back to my place and help me dust my Nobel Prize?"

*swoons!*

:D

hahahaha! that sounds sexy!

@ilex:
I think d_h's point of view is this: Whatever you do, NEVER waste the costs of a flight to Europe.
If the festival is cancelled, go and get someone to marry you. It's not the same but still better than nothing. :D
Right, d_h? ;)

I´m not married, and won´t be for long time. I do have a boyfriend who lives with me, but Swedish guys.... mmmm... And to complete d_h´s theory we should get a musician so we do not spend money in concert tickets. So, Does anyone know what happened to the guys in ABBA? that can be a good beginning! We have one for Marci and one for me, what do you say Marci?

Don´t worry d_h, I will try to start an internet relationship with any of the ABBA guys now so I have a hole year to make him invite me to Sweden so I do not spend any penny, not even in the flying tickets

I'm not so sure if former ABBA members get tickets for intersting concerts for free.
After all I think they might be around 60 now... I can't recall their their names, by the way. I'm almost sure one was Björn, but the other one?

One member became "Frida", right? Songstress of that one hit wonder, "I Know There's Something Going On"?

(I can't believe I took the time to log in and write that...)

RE: More room for gossip!

For the sake of important cultural facts about Sweden:

ABBA means Agnetha, Björn, Benny and Anni-Frid. Or the other way around.

They sold some 400 million albums and Björn & Benny also wrote the musicals "Chess", "Mamma Mia" and some other less known ones.

Madonna's hit "Hung Up" is based on a sample of ABBA's "Gimme Gimme Gimme" and rumour has it that Björn & Benny declined to claim royalties for it because they liked the idea of sampling.

They recently turned down an offer of 1 billion US dollars for a reunion tour with the motivation: "who wants to watch a bunch of fat oldtimers playing old hits?".

As far as I know they are all married, except Agnetha. And none of them ever won a Nobel Prize. But I'm pretty sure they could get you in on any show/festival you'd ever want to see. They could probably afford to bribe any band to come play in your garden...

And on top of that, they were very good. Benny was a synthesizer guru who pioneered many very interesting avant-garde machines. He owns some of the rarest and most priceless synthesizers ever built, but since he only plays the piano and the accordeon these days, he's lending them for free to various studios just because he wants them to be used.

So perhaps not marrying material, but cool people never the less.

All of you must think that I am quite pathetic. How did this marriage thing start anyway? I am 32, and I do like older men. But, not in their sixties. Indeed, I do have a thing for European men. :-] :sch:

Maybe an affair? Or I can go to Holland and marry Agnetha...
Does Roxette ever won a Nobel? :P
Let´s make a Swedish-only festival

I have Abba vinyls at home, and cds. And I suggested marring one of them, so I have no doubt they are cool :D

Playing accordion, I have to say is one of my dreams.

@kleinneRatte : really good idea, now my insanity doesn´t have to be repressed

@Marci:
It´s not about marriage, we are selling ourselves just so we can go to a festival. Now we can feel pathetic

You see, we are selling ourselves to some 60 year old guy just to go and see Covenant. At least, you should play a Monochrome for the south!
Marci, you have the right to ask him for something.

I just wonder if there's a way I could ever afford my own private Covenant concert in our backyard without marrying an old millionaire. :D

When I was younger I tried to sing ABBA songs by myself... it was a disaster. I never had a voice half as good as those of the two girls.
After all they ruined their first marriages with their carreer, poor lot.
But most of their music still makes me shudder. :)

I'm rolling on the floor here. Love it!

Just thought I'd mention that the first song I ever sang for karaoke was Dancing Queen because it was the only song that I could think would actually keep me happy/smiling while showing a bunch of Japanese people how bad my voice can be. It worked! :D

ABBA?!?? ABBA's music makes you shudder? I loved them when I was a kid I still like them a lot now! I can trace my love of electronic noises to some of their music I was exposed to as a wee little Holley.

I actually was going to pop in with an indignant OMGWTFyoualldon'tknowthenamesofABBAmembers! and a subsequent wounded exclamation of "Benny! You forgot Benny!", but you all are way past that I see...

(I sound like I'm personally offended here but I'm not really, I promise, heh...)

Selling ourselves to geriatric foreigners under the auspices of obtaining independent wealth and therefore the ability to traverse the globe in search of new and exciting concerts? I think the best option for me is to win my *own* Nobel Prize... :D

@ LePand: It's clear to me you loved Roxette. I still remember going and getting Look Sharp and Joyride from the one store that released them early. After Joyride, the music just wasn't as good.

I'm not sure about Nobel Prizes but Per's hair has affected me for life. 8o His solo stuff sounded cute though.

I leave the pose and confess, I think every girl in the planet wants to walk down the crystal stairs, followed by lights, with high hills, a feather scarf and a tight dress when we hearing dancing queen. 8)

 This is so great, I think I will not work anymore. Ever. It´s lunch time here, does anyone want home-made lasagna?
