Have done this several times but IMO "Lifeline" is better than the later stuff. And I've to mention that in the newest songs ("Accelerate" & "Fate") I'm missing innovation. But I like them, too.

vnv nations "futureperfect" cd is perfect for travelling, especially when going by train for some reason.. travelling by train kind of inflict some weird sense of longing in me and what better cd to listen to then futureperfect?

I drive every day to and from uni and use my car for work aswell so i had a really nice stereo system installed in my car.

when im driving fast and hard like when im running late to the a perfect circle concert, i play ministry The mind is a terriable thing to taste. i almost destroyed three other cars that night (my car wont be damaged by the crashes though its a volvo )

Placebo, covenant and tears for fears in the morn always gets me ready for uni.

but my most memorable time driving with music was probably the 2 hour road trip for leavers week (a week in australia where all the young students freash from high school drive far from the city to get intoxicated), we had a convoy of four cars full all cranking 70s rock, songs like, slow ride, schools out, wild thing, sweet emotion.

So I was perusing the (very) old Q&A of the Week threads and came across the one about Covenant being great driving music, and how they get that a lot particularly from Americans. Indeed, also count me in as one who can vouch that Covenant is *really* great to drive to, going very fast, on a long stretch of highway. Or a short stretch. Whichever. I've done both many, many times.

I was noting recently in fact how a lot of music sounds better when going around 85mph/135 kh. I'm being completely serious with this too- don't know why, but with some songs, something just kind of *clicks* at that point... not just with Covenant, but with a lot of music I gravitate towards in general.

It's especially nice on a rainy, foggy night being our skyline is all tall, neon skyscrapers. The tops of the buildings all hazy and obscured, with halos of colored light blurring the edges... so if you're driving really fast with that in the background and you're listening to something sleek and assertive, it's a really lovely experience.

Very cinematic.

It's very interesting to me how many people tend to intuitively get similar imagery from songs. I wonder what the factors are that are involved in that? Is it that the music itself is particularly evocative, or that individual listeners are somehow predisposed towards being moved by this or that, or maybe a little of both? Don't know. It's fun to bat around ideas though. I'm curious as to what other people listen to when driving, to see if there are any commonalities...

Anyway. Just meandering through some thoughts. Back to your regularly scheduled What Are You Listening To At The Moment thread...
