what makes this life worth living?

[give me a reason... or two]

2

Mittwoch, 25. Februar 2004, 00:59

hey claudia, hope, you don't have a current reason to wonder about this

some reasons important to me:

- the first cup of espresso (with lots of milk) in the morning (what is usually around lunch-time in my case)
- the feeling after a long run
- very loud, very good music you are listening to while driving in your own car, especially at night
- the first cigarette after a long period of non-smoking, making you feel dizzy
- kissing
- nonsense-emailing, nonsense-phonecalling and nonsense in general
- doing things that you abslutely should not do, under no circumstances, just because you want to
- working for nobody else than for your own
- my home-made apple cake

o.k., I'll try to find more...

RE: what makes this life worth living?

Reach out for your personal aims but the most important reason is you must have dreams, without dreams you are a numb body.
i want to close the doors
behind my bleeding back
and dance amonge the shadows
for future glory's lost

to me there is no difference between personal aims and dreams.

without dreams you are numb body.

...and that's exactly how it feels.

I've got to create some dreams, I guess

thank you...

I'm sure that you don't have to create them, but you'll have to find them and, most important, dare to think about them

1. Being together with the one you love (mhm...in my case not,he broke with me a while ago...)
~ LOVE IS KEY... ~

2. MUSIC (and that´s what keeps me going when the times are hard)
3. Books (my "best friends")

..and in general: having the opportunity to do things that I love and to fill my mind with knowledge hehe...enriching life with things that you truly want to do....

you really should. Having dreams, living dreams, try to fullfill dreams... one of the things that make your life worth living.

what makes life worth living???

finding out after a long silence what you mean to someone you thought had forgotten about you

hearing a song for the first time and knowing that someone else on the planet has been exactly where you are or have been and that they got through it

cuddling (your teddy bear, your pet, your significant other, or with a blanket on the couch)

laughing at the good times and crying over the bad times... it reminds you that there are always highs and lows

hope this helps

what makes it worth? to put a smile on the face of someone you love...

@niki & twilight: exactly!

I agree that dreams are important, but enjoying the moment to the full is something you can start with immediately.

some of my what-makes-this-life-worth-living-reasons for today:

- a glass (o.k., it were two-and-a-half glasses, actually ) of primitivo di manduria
- walking through the snow, immediately after having had a sauna (you can perfectly figure out your dreams while doing that)
- a cat on my lap while writing
- distracting myself from doing what I have to by posting this

hm... unfortunately my blanket starts whispering "I'm not a man, just a blanket. I'm not even human, just a blanket. Are you lonely? "

yessss. thanks for reminding me of that feeling. :)

@ Michelle, Black Cat: thanks... :)

@ all: I find it kinda embarrassing that I've posted this question here - so thanks again for your kind words...
And, Niki: yes, it helps :)

todays reason:

Days and Days of rain... it gets so hot here in the summer that i love being able to remember the rain of winter!!! :D

I think theres been some very good answers here. We all have doubts- is this it? I know it might sound harsh, but yes, in a way this is it, unless one desides to follow ones dreams, or find the route to those dreams.
I have been at that very dark point in life where you seem to be, trying to find some meaning, seeing all negativly, but it gets better, i promise, it´s those ups and downs that makes one love those special moments, sherish how fortunate we actually are. And the best way to deal with this is actually to air the emotions, talk about it, just as you have :)

@Jenny : that´s really true,on some days you have the feeling that things will never get better again...but they do the sooner or later.Sometimes it´s just hard to be patient ;)

I found out what's even better:

- having cleaned up after a long period of non-cleaning-up. all that glare makes you feel dizzy as well.
