Covenant live & forum meeting @ Amphi July 18th/19th Cologne

Hello!

I know it's on short notice but there will be two forum meetings at the Amphi festival this year:

Saturday 07.18 3 p.m.
Sunday 07.19 4 p.m.

Meeting point is the beach club at the festival ground, next to the river Rhine.

Here's a PDF file with a nice overview of the festival site:
http://www.amphi-festival.de/docs/amphi_gelaendeplan.pdf

Feel free to bring friends and your partner!

The band will be present at the meeting on Sunday and will try to there at Saturday as well, though there might be a time conflict for them on Saturday as they will probably have another appointment too. We will see!

By the way, Eskil announced that he will bring this certain toy again, which provided so much fun last year... :D

So see you this weekend!

Well, the forum meeting(s) were too much on short notice this time, unfortunately.

I think the best way to describe it is - pure chaos and pure fun! :D

Some new faces, some familiar faces, some friends who are not members of this forum but who came anyway, some people who simply spotted Eskil and Joakim and came to ask for autographs or to take pics. Especially on Sunday quite a mess but a fun one! 8)

Biggest downer of the weekend was that the festival organizers had to close the Rheinparkhalle after Feindflug's gig on Saturday because parts of the plaster came off the ceiling! 8o So the second stage had to be rescheduled to the much smaller theatre, and there were many delays because of it on Sunday.

Covenant's gig was a good one although I have to admit that I was kinda bored during the first 2-3 songs. Maybe it's just me, maybe I saw Covenant too many times. Plus, I surely prefer Covenant performing at a club to their festival gigs. I don't like daylight during concerts anyway. ;) But things really took off when our boys performed a new song (setlist please!! :D ) which was simply brilliant! A great version of The Men followed, and Ritual Noise merging into this cool version of Brave New World was brilliant too. Loved it!

So a good gig even though it took a while for me personally to get into the show but the great moments later into the perfomance made up for it. :)

Other highlights were for me Laibach (impressive!!), Front 242, Diorama and the great great aftershow party Sunday night. 8)

I just want to say, that I had a good time, on and off-stage. I love my swedish friends:)

Me too! :-]

The more I let the past weekend sink in the more I realize how great it was! :D :D

And the setlist was great indeed! Great to hear Speed again! Though I thought it was played after the new one but oh well!

And course, GCA was very well represented by... MEEEEE :D

Although I couldn't make it to the meeting on saturday (too bad), GCA was "al pie del cañon" on sunday!

I have to thank every single friend for making me feel like home 2.0 (that is, like in Buenos Aires, but German version). It was great to see you all!

We saw really great bands and took enough pictures (thank you Niggles!), we broke the law several times, we had blood, sweat and tears...Darkness! creatures! Zombies!... And of course, too many beers ;)

Painful waiting for Laibach. That was totally worth it.
Painfull hotel checkout after 4 hours of sleep and beer still in blood. Totally worth it too ;)

Almost lost my train because my ticket was missprinted, but GCA made it to the next stop: Berlin Ultra Secret Headquarters. First mission here was also accomplished with great success: first dönner is dead.

Stay tuned...

Edit: Happy Friends Day, Forum Friends!

And your Swedish friends love you. ;)

Right now I'm off to the Römisch Germanisch Museum (after being bitterly disappointed to find out it was closed yesterday, my 4:th attempt to go there) expecting to finally get to see the Dionysos Mosaic and other priceless treasures of Köln's amazing history.

Our show was almost flawless from a technical point of view, but I must admit that Niggels is right, Covenant is not at its' best in daylight. Darkness and Creatures are helpful. ;)

And speaking of that, thanks to Niggels and LePand for all the laughing! My neck still hurts.

Anyhow, thanks to all of you who showed up! I found out that I'm apparently a piece of IKEA furniture (a swivel chair, no less!) and that it's possible to enter the Amphi by climbing the fence at the Beach Club (don't tell anyone!).

:)

<sings> "Breaking the law!! Breaking the law!!" </sings>

Regarding your show many things depend on your spot in the crowd as well - I was on the left where it seemed less crowded than last year and full of lame bastards! :nein:
Have to admit though that I was a lame bastard too but that's because I've had to adjourn jumping around sine die because of my bad right foot ankle. So I took the time to actually watch - for example a mammoth-sized fairy with a corset size XS and Bluten Gel badge.... :td:

Oh, I'm such a mean old bastard, I know. :P
