Osx 10.5

Anyone else pick this up? Going to walk to the technology store on campus and install. Ars Technica has a usual very long review. The dock, UI, kernel, and Open GL updates make it worth picking up most.

Hopefully the BootCamp update installs the newest ATI drivers to my Windows XP partition. We shall see!

I think i'm going to skip this version completely. my system runs very stable and fine and there are no "killer features" for me that i really really need.

This is always my position! Until, some third party app forces me to upgrade...

It looks cool tho, but all the enhancements usually end up annoying me. Like Spotlight... I can't figure out how to set it to default to searching filenames and to always show results as a list, and not as groups.. the old fashioned way. The way it was for.. what? 20 years? I could probably hack some config file somewhere, but I haven't looked too hard...

Yeah, there will surely soon be the first "Leopard only" Apps ._. I want Leopard, especially the new dock with shelves seems useful. But I own just an G3 ._.

airport

I´m new at "mac world", maybe someone can help me?

I have a mac book, and I have trouble to connect to certain wi-fi open networks. For example, at bar with wi-fi, I see the signal strong, no pass required, I connects fine, but still have no internet service.
Same thing happens at home, I used to connect to some neighbor's nets with no problem, but one day I couldn´t navigate any more.

At work works perfectly fine.

Any clue? ?(

Depends on protocol usually. I've only used 802.11X for school. But that is not typically used.

support.apple.com to the rescue?

My server had a big trouble last week and when they recover, half of my email accounts never worked again. Following the instructions of the "tech support" guy I could fix the problem.

BUT

My sent messages folder is gone forever. I looked it up in my mail library, but it´s not there.
It´s my jobs biggest account and I had very valuable messages there...

Yes, I know, never trust tech support.
And never call tech support before making a backup...

Damn...

I´m looking for a magic answer here as I´m hopeless about this issue.
Does anyone know if I can find this deleted folder somehow???

?( :( :mauer:

Thank you so much manuel!

The folder was gone from Mail and desapeared from the library out of the blue!
Yesterday I was hopeless but still had to keep working so I only sent a mail and the folder magically appeared again! I really don´t know what the heck happened, but what a relieve...

Than you so much for the data again, it is usefull, hope I will never have to use it ;)

oh, thank the lord! :)
possibly just a problem with visibilty of files/folders... first step always is to repair the user-rights, that often fixes problems... and now... buy yourself an external harddrive and run a backup every week!

You know, mails did appear in the mail box (inbox AND sent messages), but when you open them, they are blank!
So I tested that file recovery soft but foung nothing :(

I do have a backup, but is 3 months old, so I guess I just lost the rest :sch:

Is carbon copy better than time machine?

Today my built in camera turned on itself and there is no way I can´t turn it off.

I have no idea what could it be, but it is intimidating. Anyone has a clue? What could it be?
